Plastic Logic Announces Que E-Reader Coming in January

Plastic Logic plans to debut its Que proReader ebook reader at CES in January 2010...and unlike the Kindle, this one is aimed at business professionals.

Plastic Logic’s upcoming e-readers have been a dark horse in the e-reader world for months now: sure, Sony, Amazon, and others are already on the market, but a lot of the buzz seems to be about future readers from Plastic Logic…which haven’t shipped or even been specced yet. Today Plastic Logic got its readers one step closer to reality, teasing its forthcoming Que proReader and promising to debut the device at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on January 7, 2010. And unlike other e-reader devices, Plastic Logic says the Que proReader is designed for business professionals.

“The Que brand stands for a premium reading experience,” said Plastic Logic CEO Richard Archuleta. “The Que proReader enhances business performance and gives you a competitive edge. More than an eReader, Que means business.”

Plastic Logic is light on specs for the Que proReader, saying only that the unit itself is the size of an 8.5 by 11-inch pieces of paper and less than one-third of an inch thick. Plastic Logic is also promising the “largest touchscreen in the industry,” days of battery life, and the ability to download and update content wirelessly via AT&T’s 3G network. The Que will tap into an online bookstore powered by Barnes & Noble—confirming earlier reports that Barnes & Noble would be teaming up with Plastic Logic.

Plastic Logic says full specs, pricing, and availability will be formally disclosed at CES.
