Primus Telecommunications, Inc., and D-Link announced a mutual partnership between the two companies to provide VoIP service and hardware to consumers and small businesses.
Available at Fry’s Electronics initially, and rolling out to other major retailers nationwide, the new Lingo VoIP telephone service is bundled with the new D-Link Broadband Phone Service VoIP Router (DVG-1402S/L), providing both a high-quality Broadband VoIP telephone adapter as well as fully functioning home router and firewall.
“Having been a major player in the VoIP space since 2000, we have built a global VoIP network that delivers high-quality voice service at an extremely competitive price for consumers and small business,” said John Melick, co-president of Primus’s U.S. operations. “Partnering with a like-minded networking giant like D-Link will help us to continually evolve our services to meet the demands of our growing base of Lingo customers.”
The Primus and D-Link relationship enables consumers and small business to easily set up a high-quality Internet telephone service via their broadband connection, at significantly reduced rates in comparison to traditional telephone service. The companies said that this collaboration offers retailers a groundbreaking opportunity to increase sales and expand into a new category, capitalizing on Primus’s leadership in broadband telephony and D-Link’s retail strength in home and broadband networking solutions.
