Sonos Adds Podcasting and a Whole Lot More

Power Scrolling and Podcasting are new features added to the Sonos Digital Music System.

Sonos adds podcasting and “Power Scrolling” to its Digital Music System. These features allow more control over digital music and enabls listeners to enjoy music throughout their homes. The update includes a Sonos Desktop Controller for Mac users and supports Windows Media Audio (WMA) Internet radio stations.

The Sonos Desktop Controller allows iTunes users retrieve music, podcasts, and iTunes playlists. For content, Sonos adds WMA, which provides for tuning into streaming Internet radio stations, and it’s pre-programmed with over one hundred Internet radio stations, currently including BBC, KFOG, WBUR and WLS.

“Sonos’ mission is to bring the joy of multi-room digital music to as many people as possible,” said John MacFarlane, CEO, Sonos, Inc. “With the additional control and content features we have introduced, more digital music lovers, including Mac users and Internet radio fans, can get the most out of their Sonos system.”

Audiophiles, who have extensive music libraries, benefit from the new “Power Scroll” feature, a shortcut to songs. Users scroll, using the first letter of an artist, album or track name. File capacity has also been increased from 30,000 to 40,000 tracks.
