Sony Brings the Bling with Swarovski Photoframe
Sony's new limited-edition S-Frame digital photo frame hopes to stand out from other holiday gift ideas...using Swarovski crystals.

Sony S-Frame DPF-D72N/BQ
The marketplace for digital photoframes might be a little saturated, but Sony hopes some Swarovski crystals will help its new limited edition S-Frame digital photo frame stand out from the crowd. In addition to normal photoframe features—a 7-inch LCD display, a gigabyte of internal storage, USB input, a card slot, utility features, etc., etc.—Sony’s latest photoframe is embellished sport embedded Swarovski Elements crystals on opposing quarters, helping bust digital photoframes out of the pure-geek crowd and put them more squarely in the sights of…grandmothers? Teenage girls? We’re really not sure.

As a photoframe, the new DPF-D72N/BQ sports a 7-inch 800 by 480-pixel display and supports JPEG and RAW image formats; it offers a gigabyte of internal storage, and users can load photos either from a PC using USB or via a media card slot: the units accepts Memory Stick, SD/SDHC, MMC, Compact Flash, and xD media. The frame with automatically orient between portrait and landscape modes, comes with a remote control for easy management, features 10 transitions for switching between images, and offers clock and calendar convenience functions.
The DPF-D72N/BQ should be available from Sony in October for about $150.
