Swedish firm Rotundus offers up its GroundBot surveillance system in an attempt to provide an effective security solution in urban areas.
Perfect for lovers of spy gadgetry and everything robotic comes the remote-controlled, all-weather GroundBot system by Swedish firm Rotundus.
The GroundBot is a spherical surveillance system comprised of polycarbonate with knobby treading, which allows it to traverse snow, mud, and sand. The GroundBot is outfitted with two cameras that project a 3D image onto a screen that enables operators to view and gather information based on the images collected.
Of course, a versatile surveillance system that can withstand various terrains could prove useful in a mixture of situations, which is exactly why the GroundBot is currently being tested by Swedish Defense Forces for airport surveillance – no word yet on whether the tire-sized spheres are indeed inconspicuous enough.
