Uniden Unveils Consumer VoIP Solution

Uniden today unveiled a consumer VoIP solution, the DTA 200 Digital Telephone Adapter.

In conjunction with this announcement, Uniden and BroadSoft announced that Uniden’s DTA 200 has passed interoperability testing with BroadSoft’s BroadWork market-leading network communicationsplatform. With this proven interoperability, service providers using the BroadWorks VoIP platform can now offer Uniden’s DTA 200 as part of a complete and cost-effective consumer VoIP offering.

With the Uniden DTA 200 and a VoIP subscription, consumers can take full advantage of the low cost and extended features offered by the newest advances in voice communication. The DTA 200 converts standard telephone signals to a VoIP digital signal so they can be sent across a broadband Internet connection, offering consumers a low-cost, easy connection to broadband VoIP phone service.

Uniden’s DTA 200 provides the functions of an Ethernet router, including WAN-LAN bridging, NAT routing, firewall protection and browser-based configuration as well as full FAX support. The DTA 200 also meets consumer needs by supporting two telephone lines and offers extended features such as call waiting, caller ID and three-way calling. Uniden’s DTA 200 is interoperable with leading VoIP software vendors such as BroadSoft.

BroadSoft’s BroadWorks provides a comprehensive range of applications, including hosted PBX, IP Centrex, residential broadband and the latest in collaborative conferencing fully integrated into a single network communications platform. More than 80 service providers worldwide have selected the BroadWorks platform from BroadSoft, with more than 600,000 licenses shipped.

“Uniden is excited to bring the latest in voice communication to consumers with the DTA 200,” said Al Silverberg, president of Uniden America. “By achieving interoperability with BroadSoft’s market-leading platform, we can deliver a high-quality, low-cost VoIP phone solution to consumers.”

“Uniden and BroadSoft are delivering to service providers a powerful, out-of-the-box consumer VoIP solution that breaks the barrier for customer ease-of-use, features and low-cost calling,” said Scott Wharton, vice president of marketing at BroadSoft. “As a leader in the consumer electronics market, Uniden provides the credibility, strong brand and retail presence to bring VoIP offerings further into the mainstream.”
