Several iPod and Mac sites are reporting performance issues with the new iPod Mini digital music player because of what they term a "fatal design flaw."
Owners of the iPod Mini have been reporting a loud crackling noise and distortion since the widely successful digital audio player was released last month. The issue has steadily been reported in user forums and discussion groups and several posters in one group, iPodlounge, say they have determined the problem: a design flaw in which the headphone jack becomes stressed and eventually wears out.
According to a post on the iPodlounge forums, the headphone jack attaches to the main board via a small black connector that easily wears out with constant plugging and unplugging of the headphones.
