“Today’s consumers have more gadgets than ever, most dedicated to performing a singular function,” said ViewSonic North America VP and general manager Jeff Volpe, in a statement. “Our new MovieBook is designed to combine many of these individual devices into one, making digital content portable and user friendly.”

The VPD400 features that 4.3-inch display along with 8 GB of internal flash memory for storing images, music, video, and more. The VPD400 also supports SD cards for expandable storage, and users can sideload content via USB. The large capacity battery can handle up to 12 hours of music or 6 hours of video, and in addition to the headphone jack the VPD400 feature two integrated stereo speakers for sharing audio with friends. Users can hook the VPD400 up to a television or home theater system with an AV or component cable, and the unit even comes with a remote control so it’s easy to manage from across the room.

The VPD400 MovieBook will be available “in time for the holidays” in black, white, and pink versions for a suggested retail price of $129.99.

Geoff Duncan at 10:35am 11th November 2009 ViewSonic doesn't indicate the number of headphone jacks; so I assume the answer is "no" - if it offered multiple jacks, I'm sure they'd tout it as a feature. <snark> But I'm sure "The Shack" will be happy to sell people a splitter for $20. BTW, the load from multiple headsets can impact battery life, so a Savvy Shack Steward would also push a car adapter. See, ViewSonic, they're enabling an industry. </snark>
  3. Ian Bell at 10:16am 11th November 2009 Agreed. Everyone uses it. Everything looks HD on a screen size that small, or 15-feet away!
  4. Andrew Beehler at 10:11am 11th November 2009 I think the term High Definition is really being abused these days, is HD really necessary on a 4.3 inch screen?
  5. Ian Bell at 9:58am 11th November 2009 Does it have multiple headphone inputs? Would be great for trips with the kids.
