Zvue Players Go Microsoft DRM Friendly

Handheld Entertainment's portable media players join the growing ranks of devices which support Microsoft's Digital Rights Management copyright protections.

Handheld Entertainment, makers of the Zvue portable media player, today announced their device was joining the ranks of players which support Microsoft’s Digital Rights Management copyright protections. This reportedly makes their players the first Windows DRM-enabled portable media players at less than $100.

The company said that they made their latest version of the entry level Zvue DRM compatible by adding an internal real-time digital clock. As a result, the player now supports all legal download and streaming video websites that deliver DRM WMV content.

“The bottom line is this — the real-time clock and DRM software make it possible for Zvue users to legally acquire any video off the Internet that’s DRM-compatible,” said Jeff Oscodar, president and chief executive officer of HandHeld Entertainment. “It’s that simple. As a result, the Zvue is the world’s only portable media player priced under $100 that supports DRM and delivers legal media to go for on the go consumers.”
