Fighter Within is an exclusive launch title for the Xbox One by Ubisoft, which takes fighting games to a new, extremely visceral level. Utilizing Kinect for Xbox One, Fighter Within is controlled entirely via the players’ body, tracking even slight motions in real time. Whether over local multiplayer or online, it gives new meaning to the words “beating your friend” at video games.

No, actually punching your opponent is not necessary. However, Kinect will track players’ movements as they shadow-box in front of the screen, transferring the punches they throw directly onto the in-game character. Ducking and blocking also transfer directly, while kicks and special moves are triggered by performing special movements. In order to charge the “chi energy” necessary to execute a character’s special moves, players are required to leave themselves open and take a charging stance, adding another layer of strategy to the game.
