Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is a puzzle/adventure game for the Nintendo 3DS developed jointly by studios Level-5 and Capcom. It is the first crossover between the two studios’ respective franchises, featuring both the brainteaser-solving gameplay of the Professor Layton series and the courtroom intrigue players would expect of Phoenix Wright, with anime-style cutscenes outlining the story that brings the two crime-solvers together.

Phoenix Wright and the Professor both find themselves, along with their assistants, in London, where a young girl named Mahoney is being pursued by a mysterious organization. After her disappearance, the two independently uncover a strange book that pulls them into an alternate universe ruled by a figure known as the Storyteller, who allegedly has the power to magically write things into existence. Mahoney is then discovered to be on trial there for being a witch, and both Phoenix and Layton set about saving her.

The game has been available in Japan since late 2012, and was announced for a European and North American localization at the Nintendo Direct conference last August.
