Project Eternity

We haven't had a chance to fully test this product yet, but we've assembled this helpful overview of relevant information on it.

Project Eternity is an upcoming RPG for PC, Mac and Linux by Obsidian Studios, of Baldur’s Gate and Planescape: Torment fame. The game is notable for being the highest-backed crowd-funded game at the time its Kickstarter Campaign ended, earning a whopping $3,986,929.

Project Eternity will be a real-time isometric RPG (though pausing is possible) in the vain of Planescape: Torment or Baldur’s Gate, to which it is considered a spiritual successor. However, Obsidian will be moving away from the Infinity Engine for this release, choosing instead to build the game using the Unity Engine, notable from such recent games as Gone Home and Shadowrun Returns. Backgrounds will be entirely hand drawn and static, changing only when the player moves from one screen to another.

Little has been revealed thus far regarding the plot of Project Eternity, though it is confirmed that players will be able to customize their character, recruit companions, battle fantastic creatures and even build and personalize a stronghold of their own.

Project Unity is a working title.
