The creators of the Amnesia series and Dear Esther have announced some details of their next game, Soma, which takes the idea behind the haunting fictional-technical writings of the SCP and turns them into a sci-fi survival horror game that questions the ideas of sentience, consciousness, and perception. Like most of their projects, the specifics of the story and gameplay are integral to the experience, and as such they’ve only revealed a little about the game, except for the themes and the idea that the player will take a more central role in actions and dialogue than previously, responding to things that are said and interacting with objects and machines.
Soma is being developed for PC and PS4, and is planned on being released sometime in 2015. Based on the company’s previous releases, it can be expected that early access will be available at some point via Steam.
