If you recognize the gameplay featured in this video, it’s because Ubisoft released it last week during E3 without commentary. The difference this time is that the game’s creative director, Alexander Hutchinson, discusses the various aspects of the world and the changes to the game’s combat controls. You’ve probably already seen the footage and read plenty about the game, but we recommend this viewing just to get some depth from Hutchinson’s commentary.
Hutchinson explains how weather patterns and the wildlife will affect Connor’s journey through the forests of frontier America during the Revolutionary War, and the time leading up to it. He also notes how players will be able to access sidequests
The above demo reel shows Connor dealing with locals and soldiers in an American camp before sneaking into a British fort and taking out a target. Hutchinson explains some of the new moves that Connor has, including using enemies as a “meat shield” and the emphasis on enemies with guns, plus Connor’s own use of pistols and rifles.
Assassin’s Creed 3 comes out on October 30 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
