Monday saw the beginning of Ubisoft’s “Unite to Unlock” campaign, wherein they asked gamers to enlist their friends in sharing, liking, and tweeting about Assassin’s Creed 3 in order to release a new trailer. Ubisoft wanted 1,776,000 shares and it appears that they quickly got them, since they’ve today released the promised full trailer.
Ubisoft’s first offering finally gives fans a chance to see Connor (aka Ratonhnhaké:ton) in action as he hunts and battles through Colonial America. The trailer notes that this is pre-alpha gameplay footage, so don’t expect to see everything shown here in the final product. However, it does look pretty good as is, and shows off much of the footage we saw during our preview.
With AC:3 set during the American Revolution, Connor hunts through the Colonial towns of early America as well as the untamed frontier. Ubisoft has stated that Connor and the Assassins aren’t particularly tied to either the British side or Contintental Army, but this trailer certainly shows him taking out some aggression on the lobster backs.
You’ll note Connor uses a few different weapons from his predecessors. These range from his stylized tomahawk axe to turning soldiers’ bayonet-laden rifles against them. It looks as though the fighting will be instantly familiar and yet different enough to add some new flavors to the series.
Assassin’s Creed 3 is set for a Fall release on October 30 and will be available for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
