Last week, Ubisoft revealed box art for Assassin’s Creed 3. That was preceded by leaked images — later officially recognized — from the game. Check out our photo gallery and box art articles for more information and speculation.
We speculated that the new assassin would be half Native American and half European of some kind, and it turns out we were correct. Ubisoft confirmed today that the new character, Ratohnhakéton — or his English name, Connor — is indeed half Native American and half English. This helps explain a bit how the Assassin lineage makes it way over to the Americas. Of course, that’s hardly surprising.
Some other confirmations include the October 30 release date. Ubisoft says that the game has had a development cycle of over three years and was mostly handled by Ubisoft Montreal.
The game will span the course of the American Revolution in the 18th century. It’s supposed to flow from the colonial towns and chaotic battlefields to the untamed frontier.
According to Ubisoft, a new engine will be used for AC:3. It’s called AnvilNext, which Ubisoft says will deliver breakthroughs in visual quality, character models, and A.I.
Assassin’s Creed 3 will be playable on PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360.
