One of the big new things you’re going to see with the advent of the next-gen systems are companion apps. They are in no way limited to the next-gen, but more and more developers are working on an app that allows you to interact with the game in a new way, and in many instances continue to play even when you are on the go. That includes Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, whose second screen app is available now.
Basically, you can hook up your iPad or Android device to the game and access a world map, check out your game progress tracker, look at treasure maps, and even control the mini-game “Kenway’s Fleet” from an external device – even when you aren’t playing the main game.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is available now on current-gen consoles, and is slated for release alongside the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Nov. 15 and 22, respectively. Be sure to Check out our Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag review for a closer look at the latest title in franchise, and if you haven’t already, download the accompanying app for iOS and Android devices. It’s free, so you have nothing to lose.
