Destiny video shows off gameplay from a co-op ‘Strike’ mission

Activision and Bungie have released a video showing off a decent chunk of gameplay for the upcoming first-person shooter, Destiny. The clip shows off a “Strike” mission type, which in this case takes players into a region of future Earth known as the Devil’s Lair.

Destiny is set several hundred years in the future, following the expansion and subsequent collapse of humanity’s colonization of the solar system. The last remnants of mankind on Earth reside in a single city, kept safe by the mysterious orb known as the “Traveller.”

The mission shown in the video is set on Earth, but the game will allow you to travel throughout the solar system, landing on planets and completing missions with your friends, random strangers, or by yourself. Destiny offers several types of missions as well, including dynamic events that randomly pop up. There will also be competitive modes, but the focus for this new video is on the co-op Strike missions.

The clip is described as so: Beneath the ruins of the Cosmodrome, in the shadow of an old colony ship, we’ve located the House of Devils’ lair. Fight the Fallen, burn back the Hive, and clear a path that leads straight into E3, Beta, and beyond.

Destiny will be released for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on September 9, 2014, and it will be preceded by a beta test. No word on exactly when the beta will launch, but it will hit PlayStation platforms first.
