I’m not sure how many of us at DT actually become thrilled with the prospect of yet another Disney title (though some of us do have children). Despite my qualms though, you have to admire Disney’s newly announced Disney Infinity for seemingly tackling every video game genre in a single title. Disney seems to have your back whether you want a straight-up fighter, sports title, or a more engrossing RPG featuring some of the characters from Monsters, Inc. The game somehow incorporates real-life figurines and playsets into the mix, tapping into the world of Pirates of the Caribbean, Cars, and other flagship titles in a similar fashion to Activation’s high-grossing Skylanders.
The graphics aren’t anything to write home about, but the lengthy trailer does a nice job highlighting all different avenues players can take the game. Plus, the Minecraft–Incredibles mashup looks mildly entertaining. Disney Infinity is coming to current-generation consoles (PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, and 3DS) this August.
