When Square Enix released Final Fantasy XIII it was maligned by critics and fans alike. Beyond the story, and several extremely annoying characters, one of the problems that people had with the game was the combat system (and the boring dungeons).
Square Enix heard the complaints and is releasing Final Fantasy XIII-2 with some major tweaks to the game. The above trailer shows off some of the changes to the system. The essential systems like Active Time Battle system and the Paradigm Shift system return but they’ve been tweaked to help players have a more fluid experience. They’ve also added “Cinematic Action,” which adds QTEs to the battles, for whatever that’s worth.
You can also tame monsters in the battle and have them fight for you.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 is do out on January 31, 2012 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
