Those who attended last month’s WonderCon got an exclusive sneak preview for Pacific Rim, the latest sci-fi flick from Guillermo del Toro, and today that trailer has been released to the masses. Apparently, after unveiling the trailer at the convention, Warner Bros was inundated with fan requests for more footage, so they tossed us a bone and posted the trailer online.
The movie is good old fashioned humans-vs-giant-monsters awesomeness, but instead of relying on primitive weapons like tanks and fighter jets to fend off the savage leviathans, the humans in Pacific Rim use enormous bipedal robots. Seriously, it’s like the last scene from every episode of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, only with a WAY bigger special effects budget. Plus it’s got Charlie Day playing a scientist, so there’s basically no way that this movie is going to be anything short of epic.
Pacific Rim hits theaters on July 12th, so be sure to check back for more trailers until that date.
