The fourth installment of the Sly series appears like it’ll give us more than just new maps, levels, and storylines — but also a few new characters and some nifty new ways to interact with the game. As is evidenced from this footage just released at Gamescom, we can expect the same stealth-platformer style of gameplay, but this time around, those privileged enough to own both a PS3 and a PS Vita will be able to access hidden content with the game’s cool new cross-play features. Using the Vita as an augmented-reality device, players can use it to x-ray their television screens, revealing secret goodies scattered throughout the levels, or they can transfer their data from one system to the other and continue the game.
In order for this to work, however, you’ll need a copy of the game for both platforms — but those who purchase the game for PS3 will be given a code that allows them to get the Vita version for free.
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time will be released sometime in February of 2013.
