On Tuesday, Bioware released the “Resurgence” map pack for the multiplayer portion of Mass Effect 3 - check out the original trailer here. ME3‘s addictive multiplayer has kept players coming back to the game despite the highly controversial single player campaign, and fans have been clamoring for more content.
The multiplayer originally only came with six maps and quickly risked growing tedium. Fortunately, Bioware has been on top of the game with challenge weekends and a variety of player classes, options, and playable characters. “Resurgence” added even more character types, two new maps, and, of course, new weaponry to blow away enemies.
The completely free pack included:
- Two maps—Firebase Condor, a warzone outpost, and Firebase Hydra, an abandoned Quarian colony.
- Six unlockable characters- An Asari Justicar, Krogan Battlemaster Vanguard, Batarian Soldier, Batarian Sentinel, Geth Engineer, and a Geth Infiltrator.
- New unlockable weapons and consumables.
We saw a similar video like this one when Bioware held their “N7 Challenge Weekend” event. In this video, game designers Eric Fagnan and Corey Gaspur return to breakdown how the new character kits work, and what new powers they come with. For example, the Batarian soldier features a new power called “Ballistic Blades” which is essentially a one-shot shotgun strapped to the player’s wrist.
