Max Payne 3 – multiplayer breakdown part two

Most gamers already have a good idea of what to expect from Max Payne 3‘s campaign, at least in a general sense. Even if you haven’t been following the game, if you are at least vaguely familiar with the Max Payne series you can paint a general picture of the third-person action shooter that will feature cover mechanics, plenty of gun battles, and the game’s famed bullet-time. The real question with the game is how will they pull off the multiplayer and still make it feel like a Max Payne game?

The first Max Payne 3 multiplayer breakdown video explored how Rockstar is translating the fluid gun battles of the single player campaign into the various multiplayer modes. They also briefly showed off a couple of modes including Gang Wars and Paynekiller.

Part two takes a closer look at the Gang Wars mode which is a dynamic story-based multiplayer option that pits two factions against one another. Each side has objectives that they must complete, and depending on which team succeeds the game changes how the “story” progresses. You’ll also see some in-game options like the “Vendetta” and “Crews.” If another player kills you twice in a row, you can enact a Vendetta which shows you where that player is on the map. If you’re able to hunt down and kill them, you’ll get bonus experience points. Crews are the teams that players build and take into the multiplayer modes.

For a better look at the multiplayer, check out our recent hands-on preview. We’ve also had a couple of chances to look at the gameplay and Max’s single player campaign.

Circle May 15 on your calendars because that’s when Max Payne 3 releases on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC.
