Who’s the MVP in NBA 2K15? According to this new trailer, it’s you

If 2K14 has been the year of LeBron James, then 2K15 will belong to Kevin Durant. 2K Games and developer Visual Concepts released a new trailer today for the next iteration of their popular NBA 2K franchise. Titled “Most Valuable Players,” the trailer features gameplay footage from NBA 2K14 intercut with Kevin Durant’s 2013-2014 MVP acceptance speech, which in turn is spliced with NBA 2K community members delivering Durant’s words, climaxing with the empowering “#YourTimeHasCome”.

The new trailer also coincides with the announcement of an exclusive bundle for fans that pre-order the game. The KD MVP Bonus Pack includes 5,000 units of the game’s Virtual Currency, a Kevin Durant Throwback MyTEAM card, two MyTEAM card packs, and two MyPLAYER leg sleeves “inspired by Kevin Durant.” For those unfamiliar with NBA 2K, MyTEAM mode combines the hook of collectible card gaming with the moment-to-moment action of simulated basketball.

Digital Trends found NBA 2K14 to be a solid–if somewhat unexciting–edition of the series. The Lebron-centric Path to Greatness mode added a nice bit of narrative color to the game, which will presumably be further refined with 2K15‘s Durant focus. More time spent working with the new generation’s hardware will of course also mean graphics that better utilize the young consoles’ capabilities.

NBA 2K15 is scheduled for release on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on October 7, 2014 (that’s the same day as a certain other iterative NBA video game franchise, probably not coincidentally). The game and Bonus Pack are available now for pre-order through 2K’s Facebook page and participating retailers.
