During the 2012 Game Developers Conference, Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) let the press take a look at demo for their MMOFPS Planetside 2. Our own Adam Rosenberg got a chance to go hands-on with the demo while he was there: take a look at his coverage to get an idea of the feel for the game. Today, SOE released some video of their alpha demo from GDC which we have above.
Planetside 2 will be free to play, and is meant revamp the original Planetside from 2003. Players will choose from three different factions to fight for: the Terran Republic, New Conglomerate, and the Vanu Sovereignty.
In the alpha gameplay video above, you’ll see examples of the differences between the three factions and the immensity of the maps that will be available in the game. You’ll also see air and ground vehicular combat, as well as some shots of the first-person view that players will see as they duke it out to control the maps.
At the moment Planetside 2 does not have a release date, but you can expect it on PC.
