Most of the Resident Evil games lately seem to be on a going back to older stories mode. Revelations is inbetween RE:4 and RE:5 and the new Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City takes place between RE:2 and RE 3:Nemesis. It’s a return to Raccoon City.
One big difference is that players will be playing as an officer of the Umbrella Security Service (USS). The USS members are tasked with destroying evidence of Umbrella’s illegal activities, including survivors of the outbreak. ORC supposedly will let players make “what-if” decisions including killing Leon Kennedy.
The game will feature six different playable characters: Vector, Beltway, Spectre, Four Eyes, Lupo and Bertha. Each of them come with different unique abilities from healer, sniper and demolition. There will be a four-player co-op mode which pits the USS against the US Special Operations task force. There will also be something called a “Heroes Mode”; an online multiplayer feature allowing players to be former RE characters like Leon, Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, and Carlos Oliveira as well as villians like Ada Wong, HUNK, Nicholai Ginovaef and a new character whose name is Lone Wolf.
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will be on PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 and is set to be out in stores on March 20.
