We loved Assassin’s Creed III when we saw it at E3, but unfortunately those not at the show had to live vicariously through our description of the footage displayed and played for us. We spoke at great length about what we saw, but the old adage “a picture is worth a thousand words” rang true. That being the case, a video must be worth a million, and video with commentary from the game’s creative director, Alex Hutchinson, must be priceless.
The clip shows a closer look at the city of Boston, which is recreated on a 1:3 scale according to old maps of the city. In other words, it is massive–and it is just one third of the game, with New York and the Frontier filling out the rest of the world. The video is all pure gameplay and it should give you a good idea of what to expect from the newest game in the series. Much of it will probably seem familiar to fans of the franchise, but the majority of the gameplay mechanics were rebuilt from the ground up for this game.
Check out what Hutchinson has to say about the new gameplay elements, and circle October 30 on the calendar when AC3 is released for PS3 and Xbox 360 (a PC version is due on November 23, and a Wii U version is also planned).
