Amazon slashes $20 off Black Ops, discounts all Call of Duty games

It may be Valentine’s Day, but there’s no reason you can’t show your console a little love. For today only, all Call of Duty versions for all consoles are on sale at Amazon. Every recent title in the franchise, from Black Ops to World at War,  is 20-50 percent off. Better, newer releases like Black Ops are discounted the most. Call of Duty: Black Ops (PS3, XBX, PC) is priced $39.99, a good $20 cheaper than its regular $59.99 price. The PS3 version of Modern Warfare 2 is also $20 off (Xbox 360 version is $10 off).

The Call of Duty franchise has become a staple of first-person shooter gaming in recent years, especially in the console space. Activision Blizzard’s last two iterations, Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops, have each well-exceeded $1 billion in global sales, eclipsing most Hollywood movies and other forms of entertainment. Black Ops was even the most-played Xbox Live game of 2010. In fact, the game has been so popular that the CEO of Activision said playing Black Ops rivals activities like Facebook and texting. Call of Duty made Crash Team Rumble a better multiplayer game, says dev
Key art for Crash Team Rumble

Crash Team Rumble initially feels like a unexpected diversion for the long-running Crash Bandicoot series, but it’s a lot more fun than you might expect. I went hands-on with Crash Team Rumble at Summer Game Fest Play Days, and once I got the hang of its Wumpa-collecting match objectives, I had a blast discovering winning strategies with my teammates. Still, it feels like a pretty significant shift for developer Toys for Bob, which spent the 2010s working on Skylanders, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, and Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time.

The news comes from the battle royale game's latest round of patch notes, which outlines the new changes to the weapons. There are some major implications to those changes, though the updates aren't as devastating as they might initially seem. Here's every tweak that was implemented in the new patch.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is getting a new mode and overhauled DMZ in Season 3
Characters parachuting in Warzone 2.0 Season 3.

Activision published a massive new blog post highlighting what to expect from Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Season 3. The upcoming season, which will launch on April 12, has plenty in store, including new Warzone 2.0 modes, a DMZ overhaul, new weapons, and plenty of additional features.

On the Warzone 2.0 side of things, expect the new Al Mazrah Massive Resurgence mode to drop as soon as the season begins. This will allow players to respawn continuously as long as at least one player on a team remains alive on Al Mazrah, just like Ashika Island. You can also look forward to Plunder and Warzone Ranked to launch as part of the midseason update later on.
