API intros SPHEREX 5.1 gaming speakers

The SPHEREX 5.1 multimedia audio platform was designed to set “the reference standard for video game audio recording and playback” according to API’s spokesperson Alex Romanov.

In making this announcement, Alex Romanov, API’s Director of New Business Development stated “Over the past 20 years, the video and computer game industry has revolutionized entertainment, creating a$12 billion industry in North America with Microsoft’s XBOX and Sony’s PlayStation driving the market.”

API’s “Virtual World” looking 5.1 system consists of 5 identical satellite speakers and a 100 Watt powered 8” Subwoofer. It is also designed to directly connect to Microsoft and Sony game consoles aswell as all other media sources.

Compatible for PC gaming, DVD and CD sources, the
Spherex 5.1 has it’s own power supply, amplifier, and processor with built in Dolby Digital and DPL II decoding (DTS decoding will be optional and available through a future upgrade) with MaxxBassâ„¢circuitry for psycho-acoustically increasing low frequency performance. According to Romanov, “MaxxBass will create the illusion that you are listening to a speaker with a much larger driver array, thus increasing the impact of the overall movie, music, or gaming experience.”

With 300 watts of digital power the system is remote controlled and portable with a built in handle in the sub-woofer, which is designed to be “sittable” when playing games.

The satellites are based on the patented OMNIPOLAR™ 360º dispersion technology developed by API for gaming applications suitable for multi-player gaming sessions.

The exclusive all digital amplifiers and processor involved an additional five engineers as well as Paisley and Romanov to fine tune a custom built processor and management software from TexasInstruments which in tandem with bass enhancing circuitry contains another half dozen proprietary features.
