BioShock Coming to PS3 October 21

The announcement that the game BioShock is hitting stores might make it seem like it 2007 all over again, but it’s true: 2K Games has announced it has gone gold with the PlayStation 3 version of its award-winning game BioShock, and the title will be available for sale in North America on October 21, with international sales lighting up even earlier on October 17. However, folks who can’t wait to get their first taste of the game will be able to download a playable demo for free from the PlayStation Network starting October 2.

BioShock for the PS3 follows the same basic outline as the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game, but with some extra touches. The PS3 version features a tough new Survivor difficulty mode which cranked-up enemy intelligence and weapon damage, along with expanded content available throughout the game. The PS3 version of the game will support trophy achievements and, and will also support add-on game content that will be available for purchase at a later date.

Although a new title, BioShock is Take-Two’s “other” major game franchise right now, aside from the Grand Theft Auto juggernaut. BioShock took home more than 50 “game of the year” awards last year, and Universal is currently developing a BioShock movie.

Publisher 2K Games, which is set to soon release three collections for the Nintendo Switch, wants more of its games on the console.

BioShock: The Collection, Borderlands Legendary Collection, and XCOM 2 Collection will launch for the Nintendo Switch on May 29, bringing some of 2K's most popular franchises to the console. The announcement of the ports in a surprise Nintendo Direct Mini in March was accompanied by the message "2K ♡ Switch."
