Blizzard has confirmed that it is working on a new MMORPG for a 2013 release, with the working title of Titan.

Well, good news and bad. The good news is that Blizzard cofounder and executive vice president Frank Pearce confirmed that the company was working on a brand new massively multiplayer online role-playing game, with the working title of “Titan”. The bad news is that it is Blizzard, so don’t expect too many details, or even a confirmed release date anytime soon.

In a video interview with Destructoid at the VGAs, Pearce confirmed the project, but also claimed that it was not meant to have been leaked to the public yet.

It is no surprise that Blizzard is working on a new MMORPG that will not be related to World of Warcraft—the company originally suggested that had begun work on the project as far back as 2007. Then in typical Blizzard fashion, the company became tight lipped about the subject, leading some to wonder if the new game were a mirage, or possibly just something to keep fans guessing.

Then earlier this month, the website MMOgamesite.com posted a document that appeared to be Blizzard’s five-year strategy. The document held some interesting tidbits, including a World of Warcraft project dubbed “WOW4” which is due in 2012, “WOW5” due in 2013, a WOW movie for 2012, and Diablo 3 for the fourth quarter of 2011. It also listed the project “Titan” for the fourth quarter of 201

So while the project is confirmed, and there is evidence (albeit exceedingly questionable evidence) that “Titan” will be out in 2013, things could change.

So on to the guesswork! Expect to hear more about Titan- some of it true, most of it false- over the next few years.
