Capcom Xbox 360 Titles Cap 1 Mln Sales

All the buzz might be about Gears of War, but CapCom has also been doing business on the Xbox 360, selling more than 1MM copies of Dead Rising & Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions.

A lot of the buzz in the Xbox 360 gaming world has been about the success of Epic’s Gears of War, which has been the hottest selling Xbox 360 title to date and dueled an explosion of online game play on Xbox Live. But that doesn’t mean it’s the only game in town: two titles from Japanese game studio Capcom have moved more than one million copies for the Xbox 360: Dead Rising and Lost Planet: Extreme Condition.

"The fact that we’ve reached the important one million milestone with our first two 360 titles makes our success that much more phenomenal," said Mark Beaumont, Capcom executive VP for Capcom Entertainment and Capcom Europe. "It speaks volumes for the quality of games Capcom produces, as well as the potential for Japanese publishers and new intellectual properties on the system."

Dead Rising is an action horror game which combines two staples of populare modern entertainment: zombies and shopping malls. The game follows a freelance journalist as he tries to stay alive in a suburban town overrun by zombies; you can guess the hilarity and gore which ensure. As you might guess, the game is rated M for "Mature" by the ESRB.

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition is rated T for "Teen" by the ESRB, and offers both single-player and multiplayer online action as players traipse across alien snow fields and icy wastelands to battle hostile critters in exquisitely-rendered detail. The game boasts an enormous world map and support for up to 16 players, making for epic battles and game play.

And if you don’t play either of these games—or any video games at all—hey, just be grateful for all the malcontents they’re keeping off the streets!
