no its not hard you pretty much just remove the blue screw on the bottom i had an 120 gb and uped it to 280 gb

I say they're both pretty cool. For people who own the slim, just play your PS1 or PS2 games on a PS2. I'm surprised they still sell a PS2 slim at Best Buy , but it is for $50 bucks. Not a bad price.

Im sorry but when i first saw the PS3 Slim i barfed a little in my mouth. It was just plain ugly. Im serious, i thought it was just a photoshoped image of what someone thought the PS3 slim looked like. Ive had my PS3 since 2007, its the old fat model, with 80GB HDD, 4 USB ports, PS2 compatibility, chrome finish, etc… and i will never trade that in, it feels solid and i love the look of it…

lol well, of course. That was one of the big features of the PS3 when it was launched. If the Fat ps3 didnt have a blu-ray drive then it wouldnt be able to play ps3 games…

yh mine has just got ylod. cant get my gt5 game out too. just looking wot the difference was between them. old one still looks nicer which pisses me off. just hope i can get my hard drive into the slim wen i get it for game saves. and im wondering how to get my gt5 game disk out lol

Yeah, the "old" ps3 can be used as a blu-ray player. That is what originally set it apart from its counter-parts. But yeah, in my opinion, the "old" ps3 looks better, I feel like the old one looks like an Upper-Class system while the slim looks like a cheap, middle class one.

Screw this dont get a ps3 or the slim Get a xbox 360 or an xbox 360 elite. Here is some reasons why you should:

There is a lot more games for the xbox 360 then for ps3

The quality is terrible for a ps3.

Dont let the "Free Internet" on ps3 Fool you, it crashes often and gives you a TON of problems.

i too had a similar problem with the fat ps3 after one year. I was just playing my ps3(Castlevania: lord of shadows) and all of sudden my game just cut off. I tried turning it on but i keep getting a red light. I think that the red light means that my console is overheated. Unfortunately, my game shut down on me as soon as i pre-order assassin creed: brotherhood. The good news is that i brought a slim ps3 i was skeptical at first but reading these reviews I'm glad i brought one.DEATH TO ALL FAT PS3, ITS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT MESSED UP ON YOU.

I had my ps3 fat for 4 years. (the launch model 60 gig) i had it running for at least 5-15 hours a day. Seriously, that much! I never had any problems. I used it for gaming all day, and i would leave it on over night, almost every night. (I like to fall asleep while watching DVD's) Then, one day i came home, and YLOD! I was really upset. I loved my ps3. I did the trick where you open it up and heat up the CPU and GPU on the mother board with a heat gun, and re-apply the thermal compound. This worked and everything was great! The first thing I did was back up all of my most important files. Then, less than a week later, I got the YLOD again. I took it all apart once more, and did the same thing i did before. No luck… Thought it might have been the power supply this time. Changed it out for a different one, still didnt work. I had just put Red Dead in for the first time, and now it was stuck. I just said forget about it. ripped apart the blu-ray drive and got my game out. I guess the whole point to this is, I love the original fat model. (especially mine, apparently i got more use, and a longer life span than most do out of them) But, they just get too hot. I will be buying a slim in the next couple of days. I say, if you have the original fat model, truly appreciate it while it lasts and be proud of it!! But once it dies (and i promise it will one day, all electronics do at some point) do yourself a favor and get the energy efficient slim model. They will last you until the ps4 comes out. The hardest thing for me is I might have to buy a ps2 again if I ever want to pull out my old game library.

I have both PS3's and I like the old PS3 better.
It has a more refined or distinguished look.
I only have the slim because of the YLOD on my old 40GB PS3, so its not about jealousy.
