t-Jays Wii contest

Tell us what you think Nintendo is planning for its long-awaited Wii 2 and get a chance to win a pair of Jays crystal clear t-Jays Three headphones, valued at $100.

Nintendo triggered the rise of motion gaming with the Wii all the way back in 2006, proving that innovation – not just a more realistic glint on blood splatter – can sell consoles. Five years later, as Sony and Microsoft play catch up with the Move and Kinect, Nintendo is preparing a successor to the Wii that will finally see the light of day at E3 2011. What will Nintendo have up its sleeves this time?

Think you know? Let your imagination run wild and speculate in the comments section below for a chance to win a Jays t-Jays Three, a stellar pair of in-ear headphones valued at $100. In a week, we’ll choose a random winner for a pair of these awesome headphones – you’re eligible no matter how insane your prediction is. The contest closes then, but in a month, we’ll revisit your responses when Nintendo pulls the cover off the real Wii 2 and give away another pair of headphones to the contestant who most closely imagined Nintendo’s next-generation console.

Will the 8GB storage and 25GB discs come true? Will 1080p graphics finally become reality? Will it play old Wii games? The better your guess, the better your chances to win, so hit us up with your predictions below.

  2. lab604 at 10:58pm 28th May 2011 I really don't wanna guess Nintendo's plans for the next generation console, I've been a huge fan since, like the beginning of time [ or ever since I got NES and Super Mario Bros back in the '80s :) ], and I find them as a very innovative group [ in the fields of design, technology, easy-to-use-interface in particular ]. Anywayz, there are a few things that I would freak out about, if they came along Wii2 :) - some innovative, creative and totally amazing in the games / appz section: sport, dance, fitness - so 10 years ago. now that there is this awesome wireless controller technology, i wanna see an app where you can full around with 3d objects, edit and design them, do some light graffiti etc. [ something like this amazing video - http://bit.ly/iViXjP ] - then i'm thinking about educational appz, for example about the solar system where you can touch, zoom, rotate planets and stars, view 3d animations eg about the big bang... then again, there is something that already exists and would demonstrate just amazing user experience - the google earth [ of course :) ] - the hardware and technology inside are most likely to be appropriate at least, and wouldn't speculate about how many GBs they're implementing, but on the other hand, it would be nice to have 3d glasses in the box [ just imagine having those two appz above in 3d ] there are a lot of ideas of 'what i'd like to do' with the next generation console, i could write a few essays :), if anybody wants to discuss this further more, drop me a line or two, don't be a stranger :) [ especially you guys from Nintendo if you're reading this :) ] Cheers!

  4. Paktra Som at 8:41pm 20th May 2011 I think everything will be voice control, 3D graphics, no need for disc for the games, everything will be cloud based where you can have your game on the new console and also play it on your mobile device. The hard drive will be larger.
  5. RoyalStallion at 1:56pm 19th May 2011 3D compatable Bigger Hard Drive Better online gameplay Better Sensors for motion controllers Make Motion sensors optional Make Regular controllers Make it to where it can play games like COD more closer to other consoles Better Exclusives TV's inside the controllers with touchscreen eliminating the need for a tv if your using a regular controller DLC compatable Higher end Marketplace Online Save data back up Cross platform games Hotspot for any DS systems Special Content for 3DS owners Backwards compatability for anything the Wii has including downloadable games The ability to transfer Wii content from your old Wii to the New Wii2 Secure Network with actual screen names and logins.
  6. Brendon Foster at 9:20am 19th May 2011 3D Ready Hd 1080p Online Gameplay/Marketplace Improved Motion Control Blu-Ray and more storage New controlers and touch screen
  7. norwegianbeast at 8:23am 19th May 2011 It only makes to have backwards compatability on both Wii and Gamecube titles. The architecture of their chips makes this very easy to pull off. If Nintendo wishes people to buy this new system, some are going to want to replace their Wii. A big selling point of the system will be that not does it only bring in a new age of entertainment it will be able to play their current library of games.
  8. norwegianbeast at 8:23am 19th May 2011 The newest proposed name for the new Nintendo system is the "Stream" so the size of the disc really isn't an issue, because the name suggests it will use Cloud based technology making the system nearly future proof. Nintendo has stated that this system will be in HD so I consider 1080p a certainty on the new Nintendo system.
  9. jays at 12:34am 18th May 2011 HD graphics online network and digital marketplace Augmented reality features Touch screen controllers Improved motion control & 3D Ready
  10. Bsilva at 8:54pm 17th May 2011 Certainly HD graphics, that's a given. Certainly more internal storage and blu-ray, those are obvious as well. Now that the easy stuff is out of the way, trying to predict innovation is much harder. With the success of the Kinect, it would be nice to see something like that, but the Wii2 (Wii-ii?) was well into development before it was clear how successful MS would become with their innovation, so it's unlikely that the Wii will have something that directly responds to that success. I'm betting on further improvements to the existing Wii-mote, with better positioning in 3D space and better rotational sensing (better Sword games!). Looking at some of the innovation in the 3DS, I'm betting on something almost the reverse of the Kinect; a camera in the game system that can create a Mii of how you actually look in front of the game or the ability to play the game with your living environment in the game itself. This kind of 3D interpolation is getting simpler all the time, the question would be if they can create some interesting enough game play ideas to make it worth adding as a feature.
  11. Benjamin Bywater at 2:20am 16th May 2011 Interactive eBook games for kids, obviously 1080p HD with HDMI and Bluray or HD Discs for games, multimedia player for DVD's, CD's, MP3 and a variety of Digital Video formats that can be internally stored. What I would LOVE to see would be a convertible controller, one that can be transformed into a gun shape for FPS and then easily transformed into something to be used for sport games, that is if they don't conform to the new controller less fail format of the Kinect. I really hope they don't because having the controller in ones hands is half the part of the fun, I mean who doesn't enjoy an old button mash when you have no idea how to play a game?
  12. mellowGOLD at 7:15pm 11th May 2011 -1080p output for sure -Optional 3D -New controllers with the addition of a touchscreen which can be used as a remote/game controller -smaller form factor -kinect-like camera to augment the capabilities of its current motion sensing technology -backwards compatibility -quad core processors -powerful GPU designed to recapture the hardcore audience (hey, remember Goldeneye and Perfect Dark?) -Microphone support -new online account system that allows people to carry their wii 2 online profiles on a multitude of devices -connectivity with other nintendo products (yet unseen DS doubles as a controller for Wii?) -a multitude of hard drive sizes, from a bargain basement 20 to perhaps 250gb -games can be directly downloaded to the console using a Steam like platform
  13. Matvey Dash at 7:05pm 11th May 2011 3D with no glasses
  14. Pablo Ruiz Westrup at 5:17pm 11th May 2011 New controller. About 5 years ahead of the competition. Will blow the Kinect and whatever sony's is called out of the water. It will still be a bit behind on graphics, but that's ok. It has not been Nintendo's strong suit for a while. It will focus more on gameplay and it will keep catering to the more casual, non-hardcore community. My guess is, it will play nice with 3dTVs and if they're smart, will be compatible with bluray3d. -how many Ps3's do you think have been sold purely on it being a bluray plaer?-
  15. Albert Louis at 3:50pm 11th May 2011 No controller to be used 3D technology- either to be used without glasses or using a headpiece for the user to have all around 3D effect. More realistic user creator..instead of the classic child-ish limited "Mii"
  16. speeder94 at 8:39am 11th May 2011 I think the 3D function can be turned off and on.... HD is a must more serious games might be published with it faster processors.....and an ability to connect it to a 3DS motion sensors might implement accelerometers and/or gyroscopes.....but not replacing a camera (infrared like the Kinect). also....your Mii can be shared with both it and the 3DS, showing off your achievements and scores...etc. the controller itself would have similar buttons found in a Wii, but in a defferent order......making it in a more comfortable design...similar to an Xbox's or PS3's or a ONLIVE.......*i hope i win* :D
    1. speeder94 at 8:40am 11th May 2011 3.0 USB.....HDMI......SD slots.....also found
  17. stuets at 6:29am 11th May 2011 1080p, 8gb hard drive, and another sports game. (Wii sports HD) No matter what, people on tech/gaming blogs will be disappointed.
  18. Hargobind Singh Shan at 3:55am 11th May 2011 According to me Nintendo Wii 2 will have following Features: Three-core custom IBM PowerPC CPU, an ATI R700 GPU, and 512 MB of RAM The controller has a 6-inch High Definition touchscreen, built in camera, D-pad, 2 bumpers, 2 triggers, and some more exciting features. With an 8GB flash drive and microSD expansion option, the Wii 2 does not have a hard drive A new optical CD DVD drive (could be blue ray) capable of reading a special 25GB single sided optical disc,Full HD 1080p with component video and [supports Blu-Ray (may be stereoscopic 3D)]. Hope to win..FingersX
  19. mert211 at 7:41am 10th May 2011 Video: Full HD 1080p with component video (3D will be optional like the 3DS) Storage: 80 gb hdd (at least) Sound: Optional optical out Drive: Blu-ray drive (Able to have video playback) Interaction: Use of video cameras for increased performance with optional use of controllers Controllers: Will be a touch surface, much like a iTouch. No more "push" buttons Video streaming to new devices (3DS) Remote playing from internet sites and handhelds
  20. SimmerE14 at 7:25am 10th May 2011 Games -Games will be on 64g cartdridges and CDs -Will use motion controls, smello-vision, vitality sensor, and much more!
  21. Aaron Bostic at 4:09am 9th May 2011 I sure it will have much better graphics to compete with the new PS and Xbox coming up. Probable a radically new control type and more Content/Apps. Most likely have 3d capabilities and maybe b-ray. What I would like to see the Consoles...
  22. Jart at 1:29pm 6th May 2011 Wouldn't really call it a prediction, but here's what I would like to see: MAIN SPECS: Quad core processor with 1080p and also 3D (Latter comes as a software update at later time) 250GB hard drive and cloud storage for Mii's, game data and downloadable content Wi-Fi N, Bluetooth 3.0, media card slot and 4 USB ports Slot loading Blu-Ray drive for games and films (also supports Wii and Gamecube games) 4 ports for Gamecube controllers (like the original Wii) Supports new controllers and Wii controllers (with attachments) CONTROLLER: Resembles the Wii remote Much thinner with a flat back (B button is still there) Slide out touch screen (same size as the controller) 6 axis motion sensing plus gyro and heart rate sensor Also detects light and proximity Front facing camera at top 1GB internal storage Up to 8 controllers Built in microphone for voice control MEDIA: Plays Blu-Rays, CDs, music Displays photos from SD card/wirelessly Support for 3D Blu-Rays and photos Internet browser with Flash support
  23. Michael Wiggs at 12:13pm 6th May 2011 My prediction for the new nintendo system: 1. It will have backwards compatibility (only to the wii, sorry gamecube!) 2. it most likely have built in hard drive space in the form of GB's (60, 180, 250, etc.) 3. It will have wirelless internet connection 4. It will include 3D, LED, or HD support 5. It will have smaller controllers and an adaption later on will allow no controller what so ever (the adaption quite possibly being a camera that has dimensions smaller than the Kinect for the XBOX 360 6. It will most likely have a cloud network these are my predictions forthe new Nintendo system
  24. Truth at 7:51am 6th May 2011 It shall have it's peripheral back to itself namely the natal, if you didn't know it was to be a Nintendo product but Nintendo refused the addition. 1) 6 core processors 2) progressive scan both forward and reverse 3) 3D projector with a future spec option 4) interconnectivity with not only the 3DS but the DS too give love to your money maker. 5) Bring star fox-Stream as a release title.
  25. SimmerE14 at 7:39am 6th May 2011 My Ideas:
  26. horiah00 at 1:04pm 5th May 2011 Here are my predictions: - 1080p graphics & HDMI output but no 3D - backward Wii 1 compatibility - 80GB or 120GB 2.5" HDD - integrated network media player functionality (based on Boxee or similar SW) + wireless QWERTY keyboard/remote - native web browser - they'll probably also throw in a Blu-ray drive - price will be in the $299 range
    1. horiah00 at 4:42am 6th May 2011 - oh I forgot to include the camera with motion detection (in my first prediction no 3D means no 3D games on 3D TVs)
  27. NoneTheKaiser at 12:20pm 5th May 2011 3D is a must, especially with motion control, although I think we'll see a fall-back to the traditional-style controller as well, to maybe have a better draw for core gamers. This may take the form of an optional extra, like it did for the Wii, though. The box, I assume, will be a similar size, as that was one of the things the Wii had over other consoles. There is a possibility for more options on the controller itself, as well, which Nintendo has tried to implement in the past, if not to a large extent. Perhaps there will even be a screen on the controller, whatever it looks like. With touch screens taking over technology these days, the controller being a touch screen itself is a distinct possibility.
  28. andrew at 11:55am 5th May 2011 I think that they are definitely going to embrace 3D. After that, maybe they'll utilize some sort of hybrid technology incorporating a camera like the kinect, but still using the controller to make the system both more accurate and more versatile. I know there is the rumor of the 25GB disks, but I think that they'd be more inclined to adopt a digital distribution model, possibly a hybrid incorporating some sort of cloud storage model like iTunes is rumored tt be bringing out. Nintendo, has always been a leader for innovation, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse.... This could be an opportunity for them to change the landscape of how we purchase and play games!
