Ubisoft announces plan to release first person action game under its Might and Magic brand which will be developed using Half-Life 2 famous Source Engine.
Computer game company Ubisoft today announced plans to develop a first person action game based upon the venerable Might and Magic brand. The game, to be called Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, is scheduled for a summer 2006 release.
Ubisoft said Dark Messiah of Might and Magic will be developed via an enhanced version of the Source Engine. Valve used this same first person gaming engine to create Half-Life 2. The development team will be Arkane Studios, the group behind Arx Fatalis.
Dark Messiah of Might and Magic is what its creator calls the “world’s first fantasy action game to feature a complete first-person combat systemâ€. This particular title will also be the second game released under the Might and Magic brand since Ubisoft acquired it in 2003. The other is Heroes of Might and Magic V.
Ubisoft plans to debut Dark Messiah of Might and Magic at the Games Convention in Germany on August 17.
