In Hollywood, the beginning of the year is typically considered something of a dumping ground for movies. It is a time when romantic comedies and low budget films reign supreme, while the biggest titles of the year begin to build anticipation for the summer. Fortunately for us, the video game industry is almost the opposite, and the first quarter of next year is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in recent years.

In the first three months alone, along with Deus Ex: Human Revolution we will see the release of Dead Space 2, Portal 2, and Crysis 2, just to name a few. It will be a crowded field, to say the least.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is doing everything it can to not only compete, but to rise above the rest when it releases in March. We have already seen a fairly impressive trailer for the game, but it was light on the actual gameplay. To balance that, the trailer below is all gameplay, and introduces a few tricks including swords built-in to the arms.

Check it out and sound off below on how you think it looks. Deus Ex: Human Revolution is out for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on March 8, 2011.

Sony is shutting down the PS3 and PS Vita stores after a very long run
PS3 and PS Vita stores will stop selling new digital content by July 2027

Sony is closing the PlayStation Store on PS3 and PS Vita, ending new digital purchases on two of its most beloved older platforms after a remarkably long run.

The PS3 launched in 2006 and 2007, depending on the region, while the PS Vita arrived in Japan in late 2011 before reaching North America and Europe in February 2012. By the time the final closures happen in July 2027, Sony will have supported PS3 store purchases for nearly two decades, and PS Vita purchases for more than 15 years.

Sony kills physical PlayStation games. The era of discs comes to an end for Team Blue
The disc era is ending, and they're calling it a natural transition.

Merely a few days ago, Rockstar courted plenty of flak for not releasing a physical copy of GTA VI, despite pricing charging up to $100 for the highly anticipated title. Well, it seems that the final days of game discs are nigh. Sony has just announced that it is shuttering physical releases for PlayStation titles.

Starting in January 2028, new titles released on PlayStation consoles will no longer be available on disc. Everything after that date, which is about a year and a half away, will be digital-only, whether you buy it from the PlayStation Store or at a retailer.

The Amazon listing confirms the $699.99 price, while the display remains temporarily out of stock.

Acer’s 1,000Hz gaming monitor has moved from announcement to Amazon listing. The XV273U F5 is priced at $699.99, giving competitive players a real number to weigh before one of the fastest displays headed to North America actually ships.

Availability is still the problem. Amazon lists the monitor as temporarily out of stock, and Acer has previously pointed to a Q4 North America launch window instead of a firm release date.
