Electronic Arts announced today on its official blog that The Sims 4 will be released on PC and Mac computers in 2014. Series creator Maxis returns to lead development on the game.

The last Sims game, The Sims 3, was released in 2009 and is considered one of the best-selling PC games of all time. This is the first we’ve heard of The Sims 4. Details are currently scarce, but EA promises more will be revealed later today. Stay tuned to this link for an update.

The Sims franchise is fueled by the passion and creativity of its millions of fans around the world,” EA’s blog entry reads. “Their continued devotion to the franchise ignites the fire of creativity of the team at The Sims Studio, driving them to continually improve and innovate on one of the world’s most successful simulation game that has sold more than 150 million copies worldwide.”
