EA Brings C&C, Other Classics to Mobile

C&C 3: Tiberium Wars, Road Rash, Monopoly and The Sims DJ are all available now on mobile devices.

As computer and console games march forward with better graphics, more intuitive controls and innovative new game concepts, mobile devices are getting a few leftover favorites from yesteryear. Electronic Arts announced on Tuesday that it would bring Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars and Road Rash to mobile phones, while iPods will soon have Monopoly and a new title, The Sims DJ.

Of course, none of the games will be exact ports of their equivalents on other systems. Tiberium Wars will lose its real-time control system for a “phased” version more suited to mobile phones, and players will also be limited to six type of units. Road Rash will still let players rip through cities in combative motorcycle races, with the ability to upgrade vehicles and weapons, but choices will be a bit more limited.

The iPod version of Monopoly will give players a pretty close approximation of the original board game, with animated tokens, four-player mode, and the ability to control your dice roll with the iPod’s control wheel. The Sims DJ, the only title without roots on another system, will require players to cater to the musical tastes of clubgoers by spinning different records with the iPod control wheel. Along the way, they’ll also be able to change the audience’s tastes, match up couples based on music interest, and earn new clothes.

All games are available now, and sell for $4.99 on their respective systems. While most are available worldwide, Road Rash will is the exception, with availability only in North America.
