Enter the Wasteland in this new making-of clip for Rage

The development of the upcoming first-person shooter has been several years in the making, so it really isn’t much of a surprise that the developers at id Software have been releasing a series of making-of videos to highlight some of the hard work they have put in.

The most recent of these clips is titled “The Wasteland,” and describes the setting of the game. The developers also drop in a few bits about the upcoming multiplayer that has raised more than a few eyebrows by not featuring any competitive first-person shooter matches, instead relying solely on vehicular combat.

Check out the clip below, as well as the other making-of clips, “The Dawn,” and the “Arsenal.”

Rage will be available for Mac, Pc, PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 4

Elden Ring received a new patch today, but it's not the solution to PC performance issues fans had hoped for. Version 1.02.2 (1.2.2 on Steam, even though the announcement says otherwise) only has a few notes. FromSoftware fixed an issue with the graphics card not being used, a bug with a certain boss, and various smaller bugs.

But there's still no solution for stuttering.

We're just over a year into this console cycle and it's still nearly impossible for a normal person to get their hands on new hardware. The PlayStation 5 has been notoriously difficult to find since it launched, with the Xbox Series X also facing the same shortages. Even Nintendo is suffering now despite the Switch being on the market since 2017. We all hoped these shortages would start to resolve themselves by now, and yet reports are coming in saying these consoles are likely to be scarce through 2022.

While this is an issue for consumers and the console makers in the immediate sense, this extended scarcity has created a ripple effect in the market. This entire culture of carefully watching retailers for updates just to have a chance to buy a console has burned gamers. We're basically learning that if you don't throw down your money as fast and as early as possible, then you may not get that new console for a year -- or even two.

While Rage 2 has fewer weapons than most open-world games nowadays, all of the guns are pretty dang sweet. On top of that, you can carry all of them at once, meaning you can switch from a rocket launcher to an assault rifle to a shotgun to a pistol that lights people on fire in a matter of seconds. Of course, you have to acquire the weapons before you have a menu of cool options at your disposal.
