Bethesda has announced that that the first downloadable content for Fallout: New Vegas will be available this holiday season exclusively for the Xbox 360. This does not mean that the PS3 will not receive the same DLC, it just isn’t clear when the expansions might hit the PlayStation Network.
“We’re excited to continue the partnership between Bethesda and Microsoft, and build on the success of the game add-ons released for Fallout 3 on Xbox LIVE,” said Pete Hines, VP of Marketing and PR of Bethesda Softworks said in the press release. “Fans will once again be able to continue their experience in the Fallout universe with the add-on packs planned for after the launch of the game.”
The deal seems similar to one that the Call of Duty games have with Microsoft, which will give Xbox 360 users first dibs on map packs for any upcoming Call of Duty games through 2012. Typically this means that the PS3 will receive the maps about a month later, but that could change.
Fallout 3 made big business of the expansion packs, releasing five different game add-ons before issuing a “Game of the Year” edition that contained the game and all DLCs. If Bethesda follows suit, expect multiple Fallout: New Vegas expansions in the coming months, all of which should hit the Xbox 360 first.
“Bethesda set a high bar with the quality of the Fallout game add-ons,” said Matt Barlow, General Manager, IEB Product Marketing for Microsoft. “We have no doubt that gamers will be thrilled with seeing a new add-on pack extend their adventures with Fallout: New Vegas on Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE.”
More details on the map packs is expected in the coming weeks. Fallout: New Vegas releases for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 tomorrow.
I don't understand why there is still tension between the PS3 and Xbox gamers. They're both excellent systems. With that being said, I can not help but think that this "Xbox Exclusive" situation is a little unfair… Money is money, after all.
I'm a Ps3 fan and id hate to see bethesda not publish dead money for ps3, but i dont blame them since theyd lose alot of money since the PS3 crashes new vegas like 3-4 times a day. (well to me anyways)
u guys b*&%$ and moan too much, they are both good consoles and if u actually take the time and play throughout the entire game not just the main missions u wont need the add-ons for at least one or two months, i mean c'mon who wants to rush through a game take your time enjoy it and live life haters don't get no where.
Look everyone knows xbox 360 is better than PS3 and that takes a lot for me to say, as I was one of those people waiting for the PS3 to come out and stomp all over the xbox 360. Unfortunatly this just wasn't true. Yes the PS3 have marginally better hardware and as most of you keep banging on about blu-ray, but it's all an unessasery waste under the current games Market blu-ray for example. The current industry and software capalitcys are producing games that quite happily fit on DVD. Not to mention that blu-ray was a dead formats before it released, as we are all seeing direct to drive data based media distribution is taking off and BIG such examples as xbox games on demmand and arcade iTunes ( music, films, books…), tv on demand, direct to drive websites, Ect…..
As for games xbox officqly have majority market share on games not to mention anarray of xbox exclusivies. This said PS3 better later than never have now established several exclusives such as uncharted, but Microsoft have already estaished a much larger enthusiasts software fanbase. As for crossplatfom games the majority are built for the xbox and then porter to the ps3, again making PS3's marginally better hardware irelavent and useless.
As for live xbox may cost but will always be far better than the ps3. Mainly because of it's business links with mircosoft, intel and ISP's worldwide. Also because xbox live is now on version 4 where as ps3 is still on version one using the same infrastructure used on the ps2's practically non existent live features.
All in all anyone that thinks about it will realise that the xbox is better in most aspects and the areas the ps3 excel in are unessarey expenses. Anyone still biting up the ps3 obvious can't let go that they put there money on the wrong console. I did, yes I also rushed out to buy the ps3 when it released, but then found my self becoming increasingly disappointed with it. Suffice to say I now have an xbox front and centre and am enjoying the current generation of console gaming.
Microsoft absolutely did this for the money. The DLC content for the Fallout3 was more profitable than sales of the game itself, especially for Sony and Microsoft. If Microsoft could do anything to convince you to buy Fallout New Vegas for Xbox rather than PS3 they are essentially double-dipping on a sure-fire game of the year. Sonly made a remarkably idiotic decision to let that happen. They essentially handed all of the money that paid for Microsoft's exclusive DLC and more when they decided it wasn't worth it to fight for the rights. You can wax fanboy all you like but the fact that PS3 fans are ranting here shows that they know they're getting shafted by Sony on this one.
I have a 360 and I still think its BULL that ps3 and PC have to wait. Honestly I think MS did it so that way more people with get fallout for the 360
Bethesda, it seems, has forgotten where Fallout began.
*PC*
PS3 = awesome and reliable + blu ray not to mension, FREE ONLINE GAMING!!!!! 2 X-BOX 360's = 1 YEAR's worth of gaming before RED RING (personal experience) in which YOU PAY TO PLAY ONLINE!!! thats where they get that EXTRA CASH to throw at buying TIMED DLC's. Yeah, x box has awesome titles too and plus situations like these dlc "temporary" exclusives but buy the time it comes out for ps3…..haldf the 360's probably wont even work anymore to play their FALLOUT NV DLC's. ive dropped my ps3 on concrete son!!! busted the entire shell up pretty bad….som beezy is still a work horse. most the time i dont even shut mine off….i just let it sit so whenever i get a minute to play…(2 kids) i just pick up the controller and get down!
F sum XBox in the anus yo. best thing to do is find a friend whos got one so you can play HALO if u want.
IM OUT SON
I hate developers sometimes cuz they don't release a FULL game and know damn-well we're going to buy those necessary add-ons (ie broken steel in FO3) that actually allow what the game should've been like in the first place. I'm waiting until all the add-ons come out and MAYBE I'll buy it, but if I do it will be on PC. Consoles suck for games like this! I cannot play FO3 w/o mods like FWE, EVE, MMM, etc., etc.. MODS FTW!
btw I used to work for XB360 tech support and trust me, XB360 sucks. MicroSOFT (ie software) is trying to compete by making hardware. That would be akin to a tire shop trying to making cars. Save yourself the money, time, headache and heartache and get a Sony or better yet get a PC.
i gettin sick and tired of diffrent add ons for diffrent consoles why cant every console have the same add ons instead of just having for the #### xbox why not have it for the ps3 xbox and pc ? is it that hard?
@jibreezy i've had both an xbox and 360 when they came out, and ive also had a PS, and PS2. The PS2 stopped reading discs around 3 years ago, and i forgot when they came out.. so i dont really know, but I dont think all 360's have the ring of death, or mine would have had it by now, and the 360 games by far are my favorite, Halo, Call of Duty, Fallout, Gears of War, Oblivion, and yeah the PS3 has some of those titles also, maybe for ps3 exclusive theres God of War (not my personal favorite game but still is a cash cow for them) and thats really all i know, maybe infamous and theres more i just skip around in Game Informers to see the latest major 360 title. Im not dissing the PS3 playstation was my first console (besides Nintendo), I enjoyed playing the old Medal of Honor, but i did buy an xbox… then i fell in love with half life…and i had to say bye to all these… terrible games coming out for the PS2, Maybe a few games were ok, but thats it, not great, amazing, just ok. PS3 Games come out, im like.. wow i wanna buy this. Then (im not 100% sure my friend told me this) i was told PS3 when they first came out had a few errors and were being fixed so, instead i decided to stick with my 360, which has alot of known problems but still, a new console with problems is terrible, anyways, What im saying is, Sony isnt excactly a god of products, Microsoft has been trying to fix the red ring problem, and Sony fixed the problems they had, I do believe microsoft has fixed them. Microsoft has some of the best game titles, and they know when theres going to be another hit title, like fallout 3, and new vegas, Its Sony's loss that they didnt jump on it faster, hell maybe they didnt even want to, if thats the case, no loss there, after hearing this im also glad i stuck with the 360, so in your face >:P (joking)
playstation can kiss my a.s.s there on there 3rd console n r only the slightest margin better than the 360 ms caught up in 1 console I always was a ps fan but I expected a heck of alot more from the ps3 :p
Playstation started out like 5 years before microsoft did. The technology they had when they made the PS3 was the best they had at that time. I mean, look at it; Sony put so much expensive shit into the PS3 that they were barely making any money off of them, so they took away some features. Go get one of the first PS3s they came out with, if you can find a used one at gamestop or hastings, they still cost more than the 250gb PS3 Slims. I bought a 360 the day they came out, and it lasted 6 months, but I bought a PS3 when they came out and its still running like a champ. Sony doesn't skimp on shit, just watch, in a couple months, everyone who bought a 360 slim are going to be complaining that they're getting the 'ring of death,' and it'll reinforce the fact of just how unreliable American-made products are.
says the a-hole who is gonna lose his job to a 5 year old korean kid
i have had my x box 360 for three years now and have had no problem with it its been very well built and i have also played the ps3 both have been very reliable to me when those that own them say they fall apart. i have taken very good care of them when i play them everyday ( xbox360= 3yrs, ps3= 1 1/2). Hell i have been even playing my ps2 which is also still running good. its just that most people do not heed the regulations for preserving your xbox set forth by microsoft , also there is some that are also set forth by sony to better improve the life span of your gaming console……
