Forza Motorsport 2 Goes On Sale May 29

Microsoft announced the release date and details about features for its latest racing title.

Microsoft announced on Friday that its upcoming Forza Motorsport 2 would be arriving for Xbox 360 on May 29. They timed the announcement to coincide with the Indianapolis 500, which also begins on Friday.

The second incarnation of Microsoft’s realistic racing title will offer players the chance to drive more 300 different real-life cars, from common domestic cars all the way up to  Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and purpose-built racecars. As usual, customizations will also be possible with alternative engines, suspension kits, bolt-on superchargers, brakes, rims and racing slicks. The realism also extends to racing environments, which are modeled after 12 real tracks from the Nürburgring Nordschleife to Sebring International Raceway.

Players will be able to test and show off their creations and driving skills with Xbox Live. They can compete for in-game credits by winning races or even selling their own customized cars at the auction house.

Microsoft is also using Forza to launch their new wireless force-feedback racing wheel, which will retail for $129.99. Besides giving players a more intuitive set of controls for racing, it also translates acceleration, downshifts, bumps and turns into vibration that players can feel, and makes every car handle differently.

When Forza Motorsport 2 launches on Tuesday, it will be available at most major retailers for $59.99.
