Those that buy the “Bulletstorm Epic Edition” will also receive early access to the Gears of War 3 beta. Bulletstorm is due out on February 22, 2011.

Although Gears of War 3 has been delayed from its original April 2011 release date until sometime in the fourth quarter, fans of the series will be able to gain early access to the beta—as long as they purchase the special edition of Epic’s upcoming game, Bulletstorm.

Bulletstorm is a third person shooter that allows you to gain experience which unlocks upgrades, as you wade through wave after wave of enemy. Check out the trailer for a look at the fast paced action shooter from Epic and developer People Can Fly, which releases early next year.

Along with the beta access to Gears of War 3’s multiplayer, you will also receive 25,000 experience points, visual upgrades to the “leash” (a key weapon in the game), a powerful weapon called the “Peace Maker Carbine”, and a set of boots and armor.

Although the beta offer is only for the Xbox 360 (as is Gears of War 3, which remains a Microsoft exclusive), Bulletstorm will be released on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on February 22, 2011 in the U.S.

  1. jrr at 8:29am 8th February 2011 I concur. I remember when you didn't have to buy anything to play a beta game. If you are on psn that doesnt happen. Another reason why Microsoft is the monopoly mogul they are. Ps...... Bungie did the same thing with crackdown and halo 3. Its their way of making a not so good game enticing by bundling it with a sample of a far superior game.
    1. cdlx5342 at 11:30pm 29th March 2011 bulletstorm is in no way an inferior game! Just got it a week or so ago, and its one of the best shooters I've played in years! I am guessing you haven't played it yet jrr? you should definitely give it a go mate, even if its just a rental. its an amazing game
  2. corey at 6:58am 5th January 2011 Oh i did not know it was an open beta. disreguard my last most then. SRY epic
  3. Tanner Clark at 11:44pm 19th December 2010 WOW.........I don't agree with the beta only with the purchase of Bulletstorm. I think they should put the beta in the Marketplace for 800 microsoft points because that would make more of a profit in my opinion. But, business is business and that is what they decided on.
    1. EV1L WILL R1S3 at 4:37am 20th December 2010 I agree, not only do you have to buy he game for it, its got to be special edition. I think maybe they should have awarded it to the Veteran ranks. there has been more than enough time and xp events for people to have achieved this. if not then maybe they not commited enough or big fans to play and comment on the beta.
      1. Ashton at 2:54am 3rd January 2011 Guys it's just early access, the open beta is still on, but if you buy this you get it early ;)
    2. Corey at 6:57am 5th January 2011 i agree buisness is buisness. But i also think that we as customers have shown our dedication to epic. And in return it should be a free download. Im not saying that just because i dont want to pay for it in sum way, shape or form. But they have clearly made a huge margen of profit. People really do look at little things like that. Look at medel of honor. That was a free DL and it had a decent turn out. The reason they are putting that beta in BULLETSTORM is because they know people will buy the game just for the beta code inside. Its called bankable tallent.
