Gears of War 3 DLC character revealed

Even though Gears of War 3 is just over a week old, that isn’t stopping people from eagerly anticipating more. For those that have played the full campaign (no spoilers here), then you know that the game features several characters that help move along the story. And while there could easily be several side stories to be told, you have an idea of where they all end up.

For the upcoming DLC, Gears 3’s director Cliff Bleszinski confirmed both that there would be more campaign to be played, and that the DLC would not feature Marcus, Dom, Cole or Baird. Then in a discussion with fans on the NeoGF forums Bleszinski stated that the main character would be Michael Barrick, a character taken from the Gears of War graphic novels Gears of War: Hallow and Gears of War: Harper’s Story (pictured on the right).

He also confirmed that the DLC would be an original story, and not a retelling of the graphic novels.

“It won’t be the graphic novel, but it will have all new campaign content that doesn’t have Marcus, Dom, Cole and Baird in it. Expect Barrick and more…” Bleszinski posted.

This won’t be the first crossover between the games and the comics. The current comic series features Jace as a main character, who made his debut as part of the team in Gears 3. No word yet on when the DLC will be available, or what it may contain, but it is expected to be the first of several add-ons for the game. Whether or not they all feature more campaign, multiplayer maps or a combination of the two remains to be seen.

Netflix just unveiled Unhinged, and it might be the strangest thing the streamer has ever put in its games tab. Arriving June 30, this interactive horror story does not need a console or controller. Instead, your own smartphone becomes the entire interface, and you receive phone calls that ring straight through your actual device mid-game.
