PC boxing lifestyle simulator, released earlier this year, looks to let players control boxers as they guide them through the world rankings.
Looking for a good boxing simulator so you can beat your opponent to a bloody pulp? Heavyweight Thunder, released in March to PCs from OverloadEntertainment and Iridon Interactive, looks like it might be able to deliver the virtual goods. Heavyweight Thunder uses a special punch system by translating mouse movements into differenttypes of hits such as body blows, uppercuts and combos. Players are in control of their own careers, being able to do such things as hire and fire coaches, schedule bouts, set training routines andupgrade character abilities as advancement occurs through the world rankings. Money won from matches can be used to buy such things as cars, clothes and mansions. In addition to the boxinglifestyle simulation is a virtual casino, which offers up four full-featured gambling simulations. Games include blackjack, poker, slots and boxing match betting. “Heavyweight Thunder looks to be a legend in the making,” says Scott Steinberg, CEO of Overload Entertainment. “Given a recent resurgence in boxing’s popularity, coupled with the pendingrelease of NBC’s new reality TV series The Contender, it’s sure to go undefeated in terms of overall value to the consumer.”
