Tired of all the senseless violence and destruction in video games today? If you answered “yes,” then Ivy Games’ Gravity Ghost might just be for you, and the relaxation simulator is headed to PlayStation 4 with some extra stress-free content.
Gravity Ghost originally launched on Pac, Mac, and Linux earlier this year, combining tranquil puzzle-platforming with an all-star voice cast that includes Gone Home’s Sarah Elmaleh and Ashly Burch, known for Borderlands 2, Life is Strange, and the web series Hey Ash Watcha Playin? Her brother Anthony Burch was also the lead writer on Borderlands 2.
For its PlayStation 4 port, the game introduces a “new constellation with brand new challenge levels,” as well as an extra playable character. Ben Prunty, who also composed the music for FTL: Faster Than Light, contributed three additional songs for the PS4 release. All of this content is “timed PS4 exclusive,” suggesting that it will come to the previous platforms eventually, and possibly other unannounced consoles.
“I’ve been making games since 2005, but this is the first time I’ve ever made it to a console! Just opening the game and playing it on PS4 is a delight for me and I hope it will be for you as well,” Ivy Games founder Erin Robinson Swink says. Swink previously worked on several other indie games, including Little Girl in Underland and Nanobots. Her earlier work is available to download on her website, as are her comics.
No release date for the PlayStation 4 version of Gravity Ghost has been announced, but if you’re impatient, the DRM-free PC, Mac, and Linux versions are available for $15. It’s also available through Steam for the same price, or with the soundtrack included for $20. While Ivy Games calls it “a game to smooth your senses,” the last shot in the above trailer is truly the stuff of nightmares.
