Judge Blocks California Video Game Limits
A federal judge has blocked a California law which would have banned the sale or rental or excessively violent or sexually explicit video games to minors.
Judge Ronald Whyte, a United States District Judge for the Northern District of California, has issued a preliminary injunction stopping the implementation of a California law which would have barred the sale or rental of violent and/or sexually explicit video games to minors.
Judge Whyte found the law was unlikely to pass Constitutional muster in court, drawing upon rulings in which similar legislation has been struck down. Whyte found games are protected until freedom of speech guarantees in the First Amendment, and the plaintiffs
