King Kong Swings Into Video Game Systems
The big hairy ape, before making his Dec. 14 debut on big screens everywhere, makes a stopover on various video game platforms.
Game publisher Ubisoft on Tuesday announced the availability of Peter Jackson’s King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie for Playstation 2, Xbox 360, Xbox, GameCube, Windows PC and Nintendo DS systems. A PSP version of the game, which is rated T for Teen, will be available in mid-December.
The King Kong game, which is tied to the December 14 release of the remake helmed by Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson, will allow players to experience the movie on their gaming screens. Gamers can either take on the role of hero Jack Driscoll in a first person perspective or battle other monsters in the third person as King Kong.
“We were amazed by Peter Jackson’s creativity and what he brought to the project,” Michel Ancel, Ubisoft’s creative director, said. “Peter Jackson’s King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie is a creation that closely follows the storyline of the movie, yet as video games have the innate ability to do, pushes the emotional tension of the film to even greater depths…These contrasting (first versus third person) perspectives will immerse players in a journey that features epic battles, tough choices and a dynamic experience within the visually stunning environment of Skull Island.”
