Logitech Debuts USB PC Gaming Headsets

The ClearChat Comfort and ClearChat Pro are designed for voice chat, music and gaming.

Expanding its line of inexpensive PC audio products, Logitech announced two new PC headsets on Tuesday, designed for voice chat, music and gaming. The Logitech ClearChat Comfort and ClearChat Pro both use a USB connection to deliver audio in and out with one connection.

As the name would suggest, the ClearChat Comfort is meant to be worn for long periods without irritating or fatiguing users. To this end, it features a padded headband and plush ear pads. Volume and mute controls sit on the headset’s cable.

The ClearChat Pro emphasizes performance with a handful of features above and beyond the basic Comfort model. For one, it gets Logitech’s SoundSwitch equalizer, which gives users three hard presets: one for voice, one for gaming, and one for music. The Pro model also skips the in-line volume and mute controls for ones located directly on the headset. You’ll know when the headset is muted because the adjustable boom mic lights up with a red glow – letting you know it’s OK to curse until heart’s content or discuss trade secrets. The Pro model also gets audio drivers that Logitech claims are “laser-tuned,” which we can only presume is a good thing since Logitech never actually delves into what it means.

The headsets will show up in the United States in September, while Europeans will have to wait until October. The ClearChat Comfort will retail for $39.99 while the Pro model will sell for $49.99.
