Among the many revelations to come out of the recent shutdown of file-sharing site MegaUpload is the news that founder Kim “Dotcom” Schmitz was also the top-ranked player in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. However, as one might expect, sitting in a jail cell has left Dotcom without the opportunity to defend his crown — and the #1 ranking has indeed changed hands.
Venture Beat reports that Dotcom has been replaced at the top of the Modern Warfare 3 leaderboards by a player nicknamed “Arazos.”
Dotcom — who went by the nickname “MEGARACER” — originally snagged the top spot on New Year’s Eve, and posted a celebratory video to showcase his victory. If things go his way on the legal front, it looks like Dotcom might have to do it all over again to retake the #1 rank.
Conversely, becoming #1 on Modern Warfare 3 could also go down as his last major accomplishment as a free man.
With new Modern Warfare 3 maps arriving soon, there’s a good chance that MEGARACER might have to concede defeat for the time being and concentrate on more important matters — like keeping himself out of jail.
